According to the freight forwarding network, Orient Overseas (International) Co., Ltd. (HKEX.0316) ("Orient Overseas International" or "Group") is pleased to announce the release of the 2022 Sustainable Development Report, which is the 12th issue of the Group's Sustainable Development Annual Report. The release of the report shows Orient Overseas International's long-term commitment to stakeholders in corporate sustainability, transparency and responsibility.

OOCL has been implementing various green initiatives in its operations to achieve various sustainable development goals. Among them, the fuel reduction plan has helped the group successfully reduce the direct greenhouse gas emission intensity of its fleet by 45% since 2008. Recently, the group has set a number of milestones. In 2022, Orient Overseas International successfully completed green biofuel trials on its own ships; ordered seven new 24000TEU vessels compatible with methanol. These initiatives are the Group on the road to sustainable development has taken an important step forward.

Last year, OOCL's environmental, social and corporate governance and ESG disclosure performance gained further recognition and was included in a number of ESG indices, including the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index, the FTSE Developed Markets Social Responsibility Index, the Hang Seng Sustainability Corporate Index and the Hang Seng ESG 50 Index.
