Go solo! HMM announces start of separate intra-Asia routes

HMM withdrew from its association with regional shipping line KMTC Line, the Korea-Thailand Express (KTX), and said it would start independently operating intra-Asian routes.

HMM is the world's eighth largest shipping company, recently announced that it will open a new route (ICN), which is the Asian independent operation of the pendulum (clockwise) route.

In the existing three routes on the operation of six 1700TEU ships will be converted to connect South Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, the Philippines "8" shaped route.

The ICN route will have two routes. The first will be launched on May 19 and will replace HMM's current KTX service via Busan, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Linban, Ho Chi Minh City, Incheon, Busan and other places.


Article 2 will set sail on June 8 and will be attached to Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Kaohsiung, Manila, Busan, Dalian, Qingdao and Busan. The first voyage will be carried out by the 1809 TEU Pelican ship.

HMM spokesman said: "in the Asian internal market, compared with the main east-west trade routes, route adjustment and service changes occur frequently. However, HMM will continue to in other routes with various partners to actively cooperate."

Subsequently, KMTC Line and domestic operating companies Pan Ocean and CK Line, in Incheon, Guangyang, Busan, Ho Chi Minh City, Limchabang, Bangkok, Limchabang, Ho Chi Minh City, Incheon and other places to continue to operate KTX.

Starting from May 11, KMTC Line will deploy 1809 TEU of KMTC Pohang, Pan Ocean will deploy 1811 TEU of POS Bangkok, and CK Line will designate a pending charter.

Pan Ocean said: "We plan to receive two new ships this year. Even if other operators restructure their routes with economic uncertainty and logistics bottlenecks resolved, we also hope to provide stable service."
