The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has resumed Indian calls to its Asia-US West Coast "Saints Tusa" service, with weekly services resuming calls at Nhava Sheva and Mundra (West India), in addition to new stops at Malaysia's Klang Port, Singapore and South Korea's Busan.

The updated Sentosa service offers a 40-day mid-transfer service from Mundra to Long Beach.

Revised full rotation: Port Klang, Singapore, Lam Chaban, Vung Tau, Busan, Long Beach, Auckland, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Colombo, Mundra, Navasheba, Colombo and Port Klang.

September 5 MSC Francesca in the port of Kharang will mark the expansion of the start of this new and updated route for MSC customers to provide Southeast Asia, China and the United States West Coast between the better connectivity and transit time.

MSC launched Sentosa in 2021 in order to improve service reliability for airlines as the epidemic shockwaves the supply chain. The airline recently implemented a large-scale network restructuring, and in April this year, it opened an independent Asian internal route called Shikra, connecting to Navasheva and Mundra, thus stopping India's Sentosa route.

Due to a wave of general price increase (GRI) attempts, the contract price of TEU orders from Navasheva/Mond to the East Coast rose 25% from the average price in July, hovering at $1863, up from $1500 in July. The average FEU price was $2,013, compared with $1,800 last month, up 12 percent.

For containerized cargo destined for the western United States and the Gulf Coast, ocean freight rates remained generally stable at $1,563 for Los Angeles and $1,863 for Houston, despite persistent demand pressures. Airlines active in Indo-US trade are tactically consistent in issuing rate activity announcements to reduce market competition. In fact, the airline also announced that from the beginning of September, another round of India-US cargo tariff increases.
