Recently, the global container shipping company ranking again appeared a little change, ONE and EVA shipping exchange ranking position.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Alphaliner, the Ocean Network Shipping (ONE), a joint venture of Japan's three major shipping companies, currently operates 217 ships with 1681897TEU, surpassing EVA Shipping by about 8000TEU in the ranking of global container shipping companies and rising to sixth place. However, Evergreen Shipping's huge orders are expected to soon surpass ONE to return to the world's sixth place, and may even challenge the current fifth in the world.

But Hapg-Lloyd also did not relax, recently there is news that Hapg-Lloyd is bidding for South Korean shipping giant HMM, if Hapg-Lloyd bought HMM, ranking will change.

In the past few years, the ranking of the world's top 10 shipping companies has undergone some changes. Industry insiders said that some shipping companies have gradually voluntarily abandoned the global ranking and emphasized that profit is the most important. Maersk knew as early as two or three years ago. The company will lose the throne of the world's largest shipping company, but it has not actively purchased and built ships, instead, it seeks more stable profit margins by investing in terminals, logistics and warehousing, freight contracting, and air freight.

Some insiders said that when the market is not good, the largest shipping company may also be the company with the most losses. In 2016, when Hanjin Shipping closed down, Maersk lost as much as 1.9 billion US dollars, which obviously gave Maersk great vigilance. On the other hand, large European cargo companies do not need high investment, but long-term high profits, also let Maersk actively invest in logistics contracting and other sea and air transportation peripheral businesses.

As of August 5, the global liner company capacity ranking is: Mediterranean Shipping, Maersk Shipping, Dafei Shipping, COSCO Shipping Group, Hapg-Lloyd, ONE, Evergreen Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Shipping, Yangming Shipping and Yixing Shipping, of which the top 7 capacity more than 1.5 million TEU.

Alphaliner had previously predicted that with Dafei Shipping and Maersk's new ship orders, as well as recent ship leasing and second-hand ship purchase habits, if the two companies' operating strategies do not change significantly, Dafei's fleet size may surpass Maersk in 2026 and rise to the world's second place.
