Former Danish business giant Maersk (Maersk) and Carlsberg (Carlsberg) CEO Nils Smedegaard Andersen, is now freight forwarding giant Scan Global Logistics(SGL) chairman.

He said in a press release: "I look forward to working with Scan Global to provide customers with excellent service and continue to build an exciting and successful company."

It is understood that Andersen from 2007 to 2016 served as shipping giant Maersk's CEO, and from 2001 to 2006 at Carlsberg Brewery (Carlsberg) in a similar position.

He currently serves as chairman of consumer goods company Unilever and Industrial Group AkzoNobel.

In his appointment as chairman of Scan Global, the company has just ushered in a new owner-private equity firm CVC Capital Partners.

In February, Denmark-based Copenhagen-based Scan Global Logistics(SGL) issued an official announcement that private equity group CVC Capital Partners had agreed to acquire a majority stake in the company from AEA Investors Small Business Private Equity (AEA)-led investor group.

This also means that after being acquired by AEA for 7 years, this world-renowned freight forwarder has once again changed hands!

Scan Global Logistics in a recent statement informed that several new board members will appear in the near future.

The freight forwarding company has been strong for years, having previously floated a possible Danish listing.

Scan Global's previous owners had been planning to take the company public, but have yet to materialize an initial public offering (IPO).

However, the new owners for the next few years set new major growth targets.

On May 1, management announced that Scan Global will achieve 40 billion DKK (5.78 billion USD) in revenue by 2027 for a future initial public offering (IPO)-a goal that also requires further international expansion.

COO Mads Drejer in a May interview with Danish business media Finans said: "We are now missing India, Italy, Brazil and South Korea, four of the individual. We plan to focus on them in 2023. When this is all done, we will be in the world's 25 largest economies in 24. This is exactly what our global customers expect from us."
